Goodbye Major Serene

Today is the last service when Major Serene serves as the Corps Officer of Changi Corps. She will officially be the Corps Officer of Bishan Neighbourhood Chinese Corps this coming week.

The farewell service was a bit too long. Two and a half hours in total!. We had the children doing their worship, then the sermon, then the women did 2 songs, the girls did a dance and the boys did their basketball thing, then the worship team came on to do 3 songs and then we closed by praying for the Majors.

There was some crying, though they told themselves that they wouldn't cry. I think its natural for people to cry, especially those who are close to the Majors. I also feel sad that she is leaving Changi Corps, and that many will do so too as a result of that.

I, too, had a difficult time grappling and coming to terms with all that is going to happen. However, God has given me a clear direction to stay and helped me to accept all that has been going on. Right now, we can only look forward to what is going to happen and how God will magnifest Himself in the days ahead. For we shall not our hope in man, but in our faithful and awesome God
