Season of Changes

Saturday, August 26, 2006

Change, change change.

No, I'm not talking about the coins in my pocket, or my closet. What I'm talking about is the many many changes that has been going on this month. There's the change of corps officer, change of boss, change of hierarchy at my work place, change of colleagues, change in job status, changes in my ministries.

1st off, I'm studying again! Yes, doing part-time studies and working part-time now. Its not easy studying and working at the same time, which is why I've decided to study part-time and work part-time. I think it is a wise choice especially after seeing that I have to hand in my 1st assignment 2 weeks before my 1st lesson. Now that I'm working part-time, it also means that I'm receiving a part-time wage. So the telephone lines are open, to make a $2 donation please call 1900-GIVE-2-KL.

Then there's the change in corps officer which sparked off many changes in the church and ministry. As a result, I do not have enough musicians to fill up all the instruments on stage. Last night, I announced that the tertiary group would end as the needs are differnet now. Well, gonna miss the fun we had.

The change of corps officer also means changing my boss. Within the same month, I change boss twice because just last week, it was annouced that there is a shift of management again. Things at work aren't really going well either, I have one colleague who just came in and one who just went out. Having a new staff in the school means I'll need to cover more duties while I train her up. That would be really a challenge once I work part-time.

However, despite all these bad changes, I thank God that I still see a glimmer of hope. The Holy Spirit is constantly comforting me, letting me know that everything will be beautiful in His time. The more I look at current situations, the more I feel that God is in charge. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, so it's about making it through the end now.

For now, I've got to go change and get ready for bed.

National Day 2006

Saturday, August 12, 2006

This is the last time that the parade will be held in the old gal, the National Stadium before they pull it down to make space of a new one.

We parked ourselves at about 5pm by the river together with a many red and white dressed people to be part of the celebration for Singapore's 41st year of independence.

It was nothing special of usual sights and sounds of the parade. However, when many people are gathered for one reason alone, you can't help but feel the spirit and comarade.

What was disappointing was that the fireworks display was pathetically short.

Fireworks Week

Tuesday, August 08, 2006

The Singapore Fireworks Festival is on! Few of us went to the Sheares Bridge to look at the fireworks display put up by the Italy team on Saturday. It lasted for about 15mins. We really liked it and will be going back to see the displays of the other teams. Keep watch here, I'll post the pictures after everything is over! However, we took some interesting pictures while waiting for the fireworks to start and here they are.
Its the 7th month in the Chinese calendar. So they were there to watch the fireworks too.
