Yeah, I'm back from my reservist!
Even though I was looking forward to this chance to take a break from work and all, it was difficult for me to wake up on Monday cos the guys from church took me out for a movie and dinner for my birthday on Sunday night. So it was quite late when I finished packing.
The programme for this year's reservist seems tighter and more organized. There was altogether less waiting around and more doing. Training programme was packed and the hot sun contributed to the fatigue of the platoon, while trying to recall our mortar drills. By the end of the 3rd night, 90% of my mates were already in bed by 9pm. We were fortunate to have rain on Thursday while we were out in the field and so we didn't get to do much. On the whole, the platoon did very well and got a recon 1 for our IBOS test.
Other than all the siong parts, we also had some fun. Some of my friends played Dai Di and the losers had to eat a share of the night snack (Tuna Sandwich); I stuck the scary picture of the lady of the "Quit Smoking" Advert on the cupboard of the only smoker in the platoon and scared him when he woke up to smoke at 5am; my stupid buddy kept waking me up when I fall asleep, and when I'm awake, he pretends to go to sleep and ignore me when I'm talking to him!
On the whole, it was a quite a pleasant experience, but I'm not looking forward to next year's in camp. It'll be high key and I'll have to stay 3 days and 2 nights in the field with no change of underwear and no where to shit.
