I wonder where is Mimi taking her afternoon naps now?
She used to come and sleep outside my apartment, along the corridor, right next to my door. She used to come between 2pm to 6pm, when the sun would shine upon the spot where she laid. Never really knew why. Maybe she wanted to add a little tan to her skin underneath her grey and black fur.
She was there, everyday, for a period of at least nine months, before the rainy season came. The rain would come in and would wet her usual sleeping place, and so she had to migrate. During those 9 months or so, she used to look up whenever my family members and I came in and out of our door. She would answer back whenever we called out "Mimi". She used to make herself very comfortable by pulling one of my slippers to use as a head rest. My slippers also acted as her nail files; I saw her sharpening her claws with my slippers, leaving holes in them. Sometimes I would feed her milk and on even more rare occasions, cat food.
Though it was a long period of 9 months or so, I've never managed to touch or pat her. She used to hiss at me and run away whenever I tried. May Ling said it might be because she had a terrible experience with human beings and is, thus, having difficulties trusting us.
Sometimes human beings are like Mimi too. Say we had a bad experience with something, then we start to stay away from it, or any other forms that are similar. We figured that if one is like that, then the rest must be so too. As what the Chinese would say "1 stick overturn the whole boat".
What's worse is that sometimes we don't understand that not every form that is similar to that thing is harmful to us, even when sometimes we receive advantages from them.
Don't really know if what I wrote makes any sense, but I'm definitely not re-writing it... too tired and too late liao. What I'm trying to say is that this week's lessons on Counselling Theories have really given me insights on how detrimental past experiences could be. And I see a lot of people out there, going through life like Mimi.
And as I gain knowledge, I pray to God that he will give me the wisdom to apply all of them correctly and effectively to all those that I help.
