Fried Rice And Japanese Curry

Tuesday, May 29, 2007

Last Wed I made fried rice and Japanese curry for my cell group of about 10 people. They were almost all finished... haha

Steps for Frying Rice.

1) Heat up some oil and fry the ingredients. For this one I had bacon, luncheon meat and green peas. I fried the bacon first then the luncheon meat, then the peas. Didn't use too much oil cos bacon and luncheon meat will produce their own. Scoop every out after you're done. Don't wash the wok yet, cos it retains the flavour from the ingredients.

2) Beat up some eggs (in this case I used 5) with 1/4 portion of water. Heat up a bit of oil again and pour the eggs inside. Wait for a while then stir the eggs, you'll see some parts of it will look like scrambled egg. Wait till half of it looks like scrambled egg and half is still liquid then add in the rice and mix. By doing this, the rice will soak up the liquid parts, adding color and flavour to the rice itself (more eggs and less water to make it more yellow).

3) Add in the pre-fried ingredients, salt, soy sauce, oyster sauce and mix them well.

4) Fry till the rice looks moist and not wet or too oily.

Steps to make Japanese Curry;

1) Follow the instructions on the back of the box. If you can't read Japanese, please be smart enough to buy one that has English instructions.

Saturday, May 26, 2007

On wed night, someone called me. She sound like an old lady and she spoke teochew. Below is a translated transcript of the conversation between her and me;

Me: Hello
Auntie: Hello, Ah Seng ah
Me: Huh?
Auntie: Ah Seng is it?
Me: Auntie, I think you called the wrong number.
Auntie: Huh? How come leh?
At this point of time, I couldn't control myself and burst out laughing.
Me: Auntie, how would I know how come you called the wrong number?
Auntie: Huh..... You're disturbing me is it?
Me (trying to control my laughter): Auntie, you really called the wrong number
Silence....... Silence...... Duuuuuuuu, she hung up.
